If you saw the index of notebooks, then you probably didn't get the
"real" filelist.  You need to get the filelist with the "(CTL" option,
which won't return the notebook index in it.
 
Sounds like the listserv maintainer didn't create a filelist for your
list or didn't authorize anyone to mess with it.
