While I do still think it's Micro$oft's problem, I'm not confident
they'll actually solve it . . .

I'm not sure the option of turning it off actually addresses the
difficulty very effectively: my subscribers and my students,
generally, don't know what it is, much less that it's on by default,
and have a hard time figuring out how to turn it off when informed
that they should.
If it were a matter of waving a hand to get LISTSERV to do some small
part in protecting people, of course, I'd say do it: but I suspect
it's not that easy.
