Another issue with the LISTSERV Backbone is that the messages between
servers are in an encoded form, so viruses in messages are not detected
by virus scanners.  We've had a couple of instances of virues getting
past our VirusWall this way.  So I've been thinking that we should
leave the backbone.  We don't want to drop out of the rest of the
interchange of information among LISTSERV servers (list of lists).
