I too would like some automatic control for log files.  I have several
lists that generate over 2 megabytes each WEEK.  Disks are cheap, but
with 800 lists I can't give everyone all the storage they want.
 
So I alert myself at the beginning of each weekly and monthly cycle to
remove logs from lists that generate a lot of traffic.  Not close to
being automatic, but it makes my life easier.
