It took a kind system services person to get the old list file back on line.
So, a word of caution to list owners:
    If you destroy your "listname LIST" file via PUT, a backup is still
    available. BUT: if the destruction involved altering your ownership
    entry, then you cannot use GET listname (OLD to retrieve the backup
    so you'll have to annoy your systems administrator :-(
