You can do it immediately.  But if you like 'clean' boundaries then this is a
good plan.  You could also do the same process on the 7th, 14th, 21st, or 28th
day of the month (which is where LISTSERV breaks 'weeks', i.e. they are not
calendar weeks).

Weekly message archives are smaller for anyone downloading the whole message
log file.  also the web indexes are separate and slightly smaller.  This makes
a very minor improvement in the time it takes to index or re-index the
archives and a slight reduction in the memeory used during searches (helps
concurrency with other operations).
