What I dislike about services like remarq is dealing with the confused
users who can't even make it through the service's subscribe
procedure, or have some other problem. They sometimes wind up writing
the list owner directly asking for help, when the list owner can't
even tell what the user is doing or what address they're subscribed
under, if they even got that far.

My list is listed with Stephanie's PAML. I like that, and I don't
mind helping people who subscribe directly. But services like remarq
make things more complicated for me, and my effort to straighten
things out just enriches and encourages places like remarq. I don't
get paid for running mailing lists -- why should they get paid for
repackaging them?

I've written remarq, asking for my list to be removed from their
service. I imagine I won't get a response, and I imagine they won't
remove my list either -- that's what's typically happened with other
similar services I've contacted.

Thanks for letting me vent. :)
