The PUT causes LISTSERV to REFRESH the database index numbers.
Thus, if folks have been getting INDEX distributions to your
list, you might take that into account e.g., the frequency
of deleting archives, the time of day/week/month in order
to cause the least disruption to INDEX retrieval scripts
(at least in a VM/CMS environment (come'on 1.8c ;-)).
