To add my two cents...
I have a gatewayed newsgroup/list with ~800 subscribers and who knows
how many usenet readers. I get too many subtle address changes to make
the Editor= me,(listname) worthwhile for real subscribers, let alone
include all the newsgroup postings. I've always operated with Send=
Public and have set [log in to unmask] to review. Listserv has done a
wonderful job of catching spam to the list so I have little problem with
this setup. We did, however, have a 6-month run of a cross-posted
flame-festival unrelated to our newsgroup which initiated my 'set
review' on newsgroup echoes.
I too would like to see a return to the former behavior *EXCEPT* in the
case where the origin address was 'undetermined' and the gateway address
was used in its place (*this* was the *real* problem to start with,
wasn't it?). The Editor= ...,(listname) doesn't scale well for me.
But of course I don't want to be one to look a gift horse in the mouth,
so whatever Jim wishes to decide I will gratefully accept.
