thanks Ben Parker. I suspected that too as I have seen these email addresses as
forged spammers

The question for L-Soft is:
should listowners be notified (bothered) with such attempts esp. when list is
already set as SUBSCRIPTION= OWNER

Addresses which attempt to subscribe to a list may be listed in the DMR if any
LISTSERV response to that address (e.g. confirmation of subscribe request)
bounces.
