I searched the BITEARN NODES database and the DOMAIN NAMES.  Only
one Bitnet site uses MAILER@DEARN as its mailer and of course that
would be DEARN.  On the other hand, all of the .DE mail uses
MAILER@DEARN as its gateway.
 
Sooo, perhaps the problem addresses could be other than Bitnet
DEARN hosts i.e., any that end in .DE?
