When OPERA-L moved to CUNY, I queried the subscribers as to their
preference in the size of the digest. It turns out that several of the
low-cost or "free" e-mail providers (e.g. Juno) can't handle very large
messages and 500 lines seemed to make everyone happy. With a limits of 80
messages per day and 2 posts per subscriber, OPERA-L generates between 2 to
5 digests per day.
