CREN is actively involved in Internet as well as BITNET services and
in trying to help bring some of the historical BITNET services to
the Internet. For a write-up on (almost) current CREN activities
and some reasons to retain CREN membership for the moment, see the file
CREN BENEFITS from [log in to unmask] For more info, subscribe to the list
BITNEWS, from LISTSERV@BITNIC, and for still more get the minutes of
recent CREN Board meetings, BDyymm MINUTES (especially BD9202 and the
forthcoming BD9206). Monthly logs of BITNEWS are also available.
As Stan Horwitz noted, those who don't change with the times become
defunct, and CREN is wrestling with the changes it should be making and
the new services it should be offering.
I also suggest FUTURE-L as the right place for further discussion. But
you may want to check its log files, so that you don't just
repeat earlier discussions.
