} While we are talking about archives, I have gotten repeated requests from subscribers to be able to download the entire archive. *Why* they want to do this, after I have explained to them that they can always come look at it or run queries and request specific threads, I have no idea. But is there some easy mechanism for them to do this?
Not (that I know of) in one swell foop, but individual weekly or monthly
archives can be gotten. Here is a chunk of some boilerplate I send out
when people ask:
[For weekly archives:]
To get a complete set of posts, send to the listserv:
Index Sibernet-L
You will get back a list of the archives. To request one or more of the
files, send to the listserv:
Get Sibernet-L.LOGyymmw
You can have multiple Get commands in one email.
yy = year
mm = month
w = week of the month (A = first, B = second etc)
CAUTION: These archive files are LARGE.
[For monthly archives:]
To get a complete set of posts, send to the listserv:
Index Chinook-L
You will get back a list of the archives. To request one or more of the
files, send to the listserv:
Get Chinook-L.LOGyymm
You can have multiple Get commands in one email.
yy = year
mm = month
CAUTION: These archive files are LARGE.
