If you have the right editor, you can usually revive the list with careful, tedious manual work.

The key is to insert or remove spaces after the e-mail address in entries you changed, so that they align in the same way that they were aligned before (in most cases, 100 bytes per entry). This is easier to say than done, but if the data is valuable, it can be done.
