Sometimes a truncated digest is due to an embedded end-of-message
indicator in the body-of-text (that the MTA (or maybe MUA) did
not escape i.e., making a single period in the left most column
(that cc 1 to those who know what a punch card was)) and was followed
by all white space into a double period.
