Sorry, I realize this is almost two weeks old, but I had a usenet
blackout (am searching for a pub news server... doesn't need to carry
a.b.w.* :) )

I want to run a list and would prefer to run it on a computer either
in my control, or one where I trust those running it through a minimum
of levels (i.e. friend of a friend, etc.). Can anyone provide an idea
on how much list hosting costs? BTW, since that post I have done a
lot more research and short of some assorted winsock-based
mailing-list software which I hold little respect for, ListServ and
MajorDomo would seem to be the two main choices...

On a side note, is there any easy way that one could use a POP3
account with ListServ (running on Win95 or Linux) easily and cheaply?
Some kind of kludge which retrieves mail from the POP3 account and
routes it to port 25, or would that not be possible with the included
ESMTP listener due to it's rather extreme control over port 25?

Any help always appreciated.

Note: The list I plan on running would be a private, closed list with
members added manually. Probably roughly 30-50 subscribers at most,
with relatively low traffic, depending on how it develops.
