I have a question about a service we've been providing to list owners
which has stopped working. In addition to hosting mailing lists, we
also have something we call 'mirrors'. These are lists which we archive
(at the owner's request), which are hosted elsewhere - we create a
closed list with no subscribers and subscribe it to the list to be
mirrored, so that a copy of every message is saved in archives on our site.

We upgraded from Listserv 14.4 for Solaris to 15.5 for Linux in June of
last year, and since then our mirrors have been having problems. It
seems to happen if we make any changes to the list - mirrors which have
been untouched still work, but if we've changed the list at all, it
starts rejecting some or all of the messages, so the list is no longer
being archived, and sending 'You are not authorized' messages to
subscribers of the real list. We've tried a bunch of different things,
but none of them seem to work.

My question is, has anyone else had lists set up like this? I haven't
been able to find any information on this kind of thing, so I'm
suspecting that it may not be a function Listserv was designed to carry
out. Since we haven't been able to figure out how to fix the problems
we're having, or even why we're having them, we may have to stop
offering this service. I'd like to be as sure as possible that there
isn't a solution, though, before we do that.

Here's a sample header to give you an idea of what we're doing:

Original List Name (Mirror)

Review=       Private             Subscription= Closed
Send=         Editors             Notify=       No
Reply-to=     Sender,Respect      Translate=    No
X-Tags=       Comment             Stats=        Normal,Private
Ack=          No                  Errors-To=    Owner
Notebook=     Yes,/usr/local/www/htdocs/archives/original,monthly,Public
Daily-Threshold= 1000
Auto-Delete=  Yes,Full-Auto,Delay(4),Max(20)
Categories= Science:Social:LinguisticsandHumanLanguages
Sender=      "Original List <[log in to unmask]>"

Editor= [log in to unmask] (Listserv Administrator)
Editor= [log in to unmask] (Original List)
Editor= [log in to unmask] (Original List)

Owner= [log in to unmask] (Listserv Administrator)

It has worked in the past to either have Send= Editor, and the original
list as the Editor, or to have Send= original list, but now neither of
these works, and we've tried adding various aliases, and including or
not our listman address in various places and orders... all to no
avail. The one thing that does seem to work is Send= Public, but
because of spam, this is not an option.

Any insights or suggestions would be hugely appreciated! We've been
struggling with this for a long time now.

Best,
Susan Smith
