I was able to get a partial fix to the problem.

To enable subscribers to get the attachment in email add this line to the list header.

Misc-Options= KEEP_EXCHANGE_DATA

This works fine for sending the attachment but does not work for Archives. It is stored as a winmail.dat.

In the archives the attachment is identified as so:

> --_000_55B00633B0F1AB4496CE0B1D1D12B932A9ECD3DFuemail01evansvi_
> Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="winmail.dat"
> Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
> Content-Type: application/ms-tnef; name="winmail.dat"

so that's where LISTSERV got the winmail.dat name from.

The application/ms-tnef attachment type used here is a proprietary Microsoft attachment type; it's possible that the file's name is encoded in there somewhere, but LISTSERV doesn't have access to it. There may be an option in Exchange, or in Outlook, to not use this attachment type, though whether that's possible (and, if it is, how to do it) may depend on the version of Exchange/Outlook being used.

Robert,

Does it remove the attachments and all formatting of the message? Because we're having the same problem as you plus more since moving to Exchange Online (Office 365). I've exhausted everything I can think of.

Sending e-mails to mail contacts to say Gmail accounts keep formatting and attachments. E-mails to listserv mail contacts strip all formatting and attachments.

Subject: Exchange 2010 Contacts

We have our contacts setup in Exchange 2010 for most of our lists. This makes it easy for our campus to go to the GAL and pick their list to send to. This works fine except for attachments. A list will send attachments fine until we add that contact. After we create the contact for that list, the attachments are stripped.

Does anyone have any idea why this would be? The attachment settings are set to "ALL"
