You can have LISTSERV issue GIVE commands to itself in a list exit on
the VM version of LISTSERV.
 
'CP MSG * GIVE EXTRA WELCOME TO whomever'
 
Where whomever is one of the input parameters to the exit.
I used to do that when SU still had a VM system.  For one
list the "EXTRA WELCOME" was a reference to a package.
