I've been seeing scattered 'stat=Deferred' over the weekend, but it appears that
50% of the time it fails on the first try, and almost always succeeds on the
second.  It seems to have started on Dec 10 (my logs from th 8th/9th don't
show any major retry activity for att.net).  On the other hand, my sendmail
is tuned to be fairly  aggressive in timing out the initial delivery
attempt, so the "usually works on second try" doesn't prove anything other
than "running slow".  I'm certainly not seeing any backlogs for them....
