Being keen to give birth to a LISTSERV mailing list,
I've been following the prescribed document trail. I see that
many of the explanatory docs are quite old (years). In some of
them this is commented on and explained as being due to an
absence of change in the information to date.

The texts I've managed to find so far have been useful and
entertaining. My enjoyment in reading them was heightened
to some extent by the difficulties I experienced in
finding them. Even so, I seem to be encountering a specific
problem so frequently now, that it's novelty value is
beginning to wane a little.

Please can someone advise me on it?

Most of the documents I've received so far, refer to other
more specialised documents to get, or lists to subscribe to.
The addresses given, when applied to, seem to frequently result
in a "failed mail" message being returned.
Reason: (BHST) Unknown host/domain name in "......"

Can someone please say whether this is due to the addresses
being outdated?

If this is the case, is there an information file available
on the current addresses for such LISTSERV related files and
mailing lists? Where can I find it?

Please excuse me if this is a long winded repeat of a common
problem. I read a while back that most of my problems could
be answered without human effort by accessing the database.
I'm keen to do this, but I haven't found and digested
all the necessary info yet.

Thanks in anticipation,
