from the list of new features:
Confirmation of -request messages: All messages sent to -request
addresses now require confirmation from the sender before being
passed on, reducing the amount of spam sent to list owners.
This feature breaks site administrators' automated processes which send
messages to -request addresses. Examples from our site:
* Notices to owners of newly-created lists.
* Notices to owners of lists which are scheduled for removal.
* Notices to owners of lists which have been identified as
misconfigured or in violation of some site policy. Example:
On a daily basis we scan all list headers for lists configured
with unconfirmed open subscription. If a list is found to have
this configuration, the script sends a message to the -request
address.
This new "feature" throws a major monkey wrench into the works when it
comes to automating site administration tasks. We need a way to bypass
this feature, or LISTSERV 14.3 will be DOA here.
