Almost. ;)
The :; is the (deprecated) RFC822 "group" syntax (section 6.2.6),
and the (052) is an RFC822 comment (section 3.4,6). These are legal.
The *real* problems are as follows:
1) The software appears (in my experience) to not understand RFC822
group syntax. This is what's *really* causing the problem.
2) I can't see any BNF in RFC822 that allows it to generate a trailing
semicolon.
For a truly stomach-twisting time, look at section 3.1.4 of RFC822,
where it talks about parsing some truly ugly address forms.....
