Whenever a posting with more than one LIST-address is received the
following actions have to be taken:
a) Regardless of peers the mail is fanned out to every LISTSERV indicating
that there's another one (two,...,n) postings with identical content on
   it's way.
b) The postings are held at the target LISTSERVs until all identical
   postings have been received.
c) The list of final recipients is built so that only a single copy is
sent to an individual. If there is no recipient then the posting is
   simply discarded.
Of course this works only on backbone sites since it must be determined if
multiple To: addresses refer to lists or individuals.
Well ... ? (don't take it too serious !!)

Another solution:
If the original Message-ID is preserved a smart MUA can sort out
duplicates.

Serious stuff:
I always wanted an option (maybe in the subject as for semi-moderated
list) to indicate that I do NOT want the posting to be archived ... (like
this one).
