We saw and have drooled over what has been implemented in newer
versions of ListServ, but we're at 14.4, and have no budget for an
upgrade.

Perhaps we'll be the winner of the 2012 Maily grand prize :-)

So we were contractually bound to read tea leaves and block the resulting address because nobody had the guts to go to senior management and say, "Listen, you either want this removal or you don't, and if you do, we have to tell them what address to delete, no matter the privacy implications, which we can cover by making the ESP agree not to divulge that info. But we can't ask them to delete someone 'or else' and not tell them who. And if you don't want this removal, then we can't seriously be threatening people with various things if they can't guess the right address through the observation of bird flight patterns."
