Oh ... thanks.  Tried it from another userid and it works fine.
 
The list I'm setting up is for our staff ... it happens that the
few that tried to subscribe happened to be listed on my "postmaster="
line in the LOCAL SYSVARS.  When they called, I just tried it from
my TSO userid ... which also happens to be in the list.  :-P
 
Again, thanks for your help ... and apologies to the rest of you on
the list for cluttering your mailboxes.
