It would help immensly if you cleared up the following points:
 
1) Did you want to run a *mailing list*, or did you want to run a *server*?
 
If the latter:
 
2) What hardware/operating system were you planning to run it on?
3) What is your network connectivity like?
4) What is your budget?
5) What volume of traffic are you considering handling, in pieces of
mail per day?
