The way to handle the last case is to put an MX record in your nameserver
(or a CNAME, which would also cover the case of people using TELNET or some
other application, if you want) which points gtri01.gatech.edu to
gitvm1.gatech.edu . You may have already been planning that...it is all that
is necessary to get the mail there.
