For various reasons which include inter-network capability and compatibility
with local mailing conventions, LISTSERV always uses the MAILER to transmit
mail messages. If some MVS nodes cannot handle class M, I think the MAILER
should be fixed. The problem is if I start sending replies directly from
LISTSERV, some other nodes will complain that their local gateway/mail format
converter (eg convert RFC822 to X400 format if they use a X400 mailing package)
and suchlike are not working any more. And I'd say that UCLA-mail would not
intercept mail any more since it would probably come in Netdata format (Peter?)
Please note that FRECP11 will be down from tomorrow (19th) to the 24th of
december. Please try not to start another heated argument on this list since
the FRORS31 people will probably purge any file in excess of 150 left in the
FRECP11 transmitter's queue and the more files there are, the more they will
be inclined to purge some of them... ;-)
