Yeah, I had considered the possibility of using email but that means setting
up an email account, getting a suitable email component to use within the
script etc. It would perhaps be easier just to call wa.exe directly (like
done in the web context for certain things) with the appropriate query
string, eg: c:/listserv/main/wa.exe?update&listname&etc.

I think you may be making this more difficult than it needs to be. What I
do is have my scripts simply email updated headers to Listserv from an
address which is authorized to make such changes. There is no need to use
wa.exe as far as I can see.
