Chris,
 
    Service areas are defined on a list-by-list basis.  Apparently the
PROLOG list has a tighter service area than PSCRIPT.  Why this is done
is up  to the owner of  the list.  In  some cases, the traffic  on the
list  is private  to  some  group (e.g.   Rutgers  University, or  New
Jersey, or  perhaps BITNET but  not EARN).   In others, the  owner may
want to avoid being flamed  at for overloading the transatlantic link,
and so limits access to his/her side of the pond.
 
    Just for reference, the definition of Service= is:
 
Service= area1,area2,...
 
   An area can be either:
 
      - The name of a network, eg EARN, BITNET
      - The name of a country, eg Germany, Canada
      - 'Local', in which case  it is equated to the
        value of the "Local=" keyword.
      - A node name, eg FRECP11
      - A simple  wildcard nodename pattern  such as
        FR*, *11, *ESA*, D*ESA*, etc
