We're working on a local solution that will allow us to authenticate the sender of a message with LISTSERV via a public key authentication mechanism (rather than rely on moderation or confirmation). This will allow us to create public announcements (and send more sensitive information to private lists) through automated systems without having to worry about forgery, a wait for moderation, or interception of passwords or SMTP traffic on the network.

Is anything like this on the drawing board for LISTSERV? It seems like a no-brainer "good thing" to be able to accept messages and distribute them without worrying about authenticity or exposing passwords, etc, accidentally.
