Let me revise my original startement...

The files are messages sent to moderated lists, I don't know if they were
approved or not, but I do know I have several thousand of them from
various lists dating from now and all the way back to 1998.

Subject: .okXXXXX files in the home dir

I have many listname.okXXXXX files in my listserv home dir. They are all
approved postings from moderated lists. The questions is, why do they end up
there, and can I safely delete them?
