TEXT/PLAIN (30 lines)
In two weeks, we are going to phase out a Unix system which I will call
"x". The 1200 or so users of that system will all be migrated to a much
larger and faster system called "y". The userid will be the same for
system "x" users on system "y". Some of these people using system "x" are
Listserv subscribers and/or list owners

For mail purposes and other issues, the users will be able to access their
email and log into system "y" by referring to the system "x" hostname
after the migration thanks to some DNS changes and some mods to the
configuration on system "y".

What I am wondering about is if I make an entry in the aliases.names file
on Listserv such as:

:nick.Y :alias.X

will it enable system "x" users to access Listserv via the Web GUI without
them having to change their Listserv password, alter the subscriptions,
and/or any list's "Owner" keyword? The idea is to try to make this
migration as seemless as possible for the users of system "x". I am pretty
sure this would work, but I want to confirm first.

I also am aware of issues such as people maintaining and/or being
subscribed to Majordomo and other types of lists outside of our control.
That, I do not see any way we can help the users in this transition.

If anyone has any comments on this issue, please let me know.

Thanks
