LISTSERV will tell you  there are several lists by the  same name, and it
can't choose  for you;  instead it  will give  you a  list of  them, with
instructions  to  resend to  the  one  you like  best.  If  you send  the
subscription request  to the  server hosting  one of  the lists,  it will
subscribe you to the local one.

I know, it is happening with the LSTSRV-L list because the postmasters at
the former EARN sites aren't deleting the lists... *sigh*
