John,

The html codes you are seeing are probably from Eudora Pro, or a similar
email program.  We use it in our office and it is great for underlining,
redlining, italics, etc.  *But* the receiver must have a program which can
interpret and display the html coding.

Eudora has a button which strips all html codes from an email before it is
sent, but the sender must proactively do this, or, refrain from using it in
the first place.  Until these high-end programs become the norm, a gentle
word from the moderator should be  enough.
