Can it be done?  More specifically, suppose for list FOO-L, I have
 
*  Notebook= Yes,X1/300,Weekly,Private
 
and I  have a need  to edit some portion  of FOO-L LOG9303A  (either the
alteration or  removal of an article).   Does this do violence  to FOO-L
DBNAMES and/or FOO-L  DBINDEX?  Or can I just delete  these latter files
and LISTSERV will rebuild them?  (What are these files for, anyway?)
 
Never mind  the ethics of  such tamperings  -- that's a  separate issue.
This is a technical query only.
 
Neither a LDBASE search of LSTSRV-L archives  nor a search of * MEMO nor
a search of my LSTSRV-L NOTEBOOK turned up anything of any use.
