fyi .. We've (I. Kerry Anderson, actually) done this now with a relatively
small *hack* to sendmail.  Not a pretty hack, says Kerry, but one we can
live with (on this particular machine) ... and one that will save us and
*me* lots of time in the future and give better service to our customers.
