Can owners be at different nodes?

Excuse me if this is a dumb question, but can two or more owners of
a list be at different nodes?  I'm sure it is supported, but I want
to be sure before I tell my list owner to add his colleague as an
additional owner.
 
We have Revised LISTSERV version 1.7f.
