I think this situation is highly context dependent along with user's LISTSERV abilities e.g., search
the archive.  An academic dialog list might be entirely different than an organization's broacast list
of mission critical or embargoed information.

Just the other day, I was scratching my head as to why LISTSERV did not respond until I figured out
that I had not sent it to my intended addressbook entry (oops).
