We have a similar setup and have been through it. This is not the official
answer, BTW. They tend to stick to the manual for those. :-)

The NODE parameter is best described by the Site Manager's Manual at
section 7.1.4:

The "LISTSERV address" is the address formed by
"LISTSERV@" + the value you defined in the site
configuration file for NODE=. For instance, if
you defined NODE=XYZ.COM, the LISTSERV address
would be [log in to unmask]

If you can get inbound e-mail to the LISTSERV server using the NODE value,
then that works. It has to be a domain name that has a resolvable MX
receiver on the Internet if the LISTSERV is to be used from the Internet.
It does not have to be the FQDN of the system it sits on.

With the Windows version, you may have to add the FQDN used by the
Sendmail aliases and the LISTSERV server to the MYDOMAIN setting.

Remember that you have the option to set SENDER as well on a per-list
basis. You can also use a Sendmail relay with genericstable and
masquerading support to make addresses look however you want on outgoing
e-mail. Just be sure that incoming mail will make it to the LISTSERV
system.
