I always reply with "OK xxxxxxxx", just a habit.

But to your case, what I think may be happening is Yahoo is either losing or
not adding a blank line (or at least E-O-L) after the OK so the normal Yahoo
bottom banner text is added on and that's what LISTSERV is objecting to.

To test this, you could reply with 

OK
--

The -- (must be at the beginning of line and on a line by itself) is a code to
LISTSERV meaning 'ignore anything after this'.
