It appears now that the mail for IBM7171 that LISTSERV is not
   purging from its RDR is left there after LISTSERV handles the /FORWARD
   for that user.  Do you have any lists with someone on tham who has
   LISTSERV /FORWARDing there mail to another node?
 
   Here's what happens here:
 
   1)  IBM7171@MARIST (or UGA) sends mail via DIST to RFNEISS@UBVM
   2)  LISTSERV /FORWARDS this piece of mail to RNTN@SNYCENVM but
       does not purge it from the RDR and leaves it in USER HOLD.
