Tech Support suggested I drop a note to the list about the problem
I am facing. After upgrading to sendmail 8.12.8 I noticed a slowdown of
jobs being processed by listserv (lsv). The communication between sendmail and
lsv seemed to be OK. ie items were being passed between them for the most
part. What I saw was at time lsv would send a job to sendmail and just hang.
lsof showed that lsv was sitting on a asdf.mail file. truss of the lsv process
showed "sleeping". sendmail showed getting the list and sending it out.
the lsv log output showed the addresses going out, but never said "11 Mar
2003 12:25:23 Done - 1 outbound file (3 rcpts)."
 Only after restarting lsv did things get going again... for a while. jobs
started backing up, ie asdfasdfasdf.job files in spool. after backreving
sendmail to 8.11.6, the spool cleared and has not backed up since. We need
to upgrade to sendmail 8.12.8.

Any ideas??

FYI: sendmail.cf is generated from sendmail.mc file and we have tried
running sendmail in both modes. ( with and without submit.cf ) our
sendmail.mc file was modified to handle a TLS option field otherwise it is
the same for 8.11.6 and 8.12.8
