LISTSERV is right. There isn't any address in "Marc Seybold (seybolmp@
SNYOLDBA)". Anything inside parentheses is a comment, and there isn't
any at-sign outside the comments. Try "Marc Seybold <seybolmp@SNYOLDBA>"
instead. (All this is per RFC822, available from NICSERVE as RFC822
STANDARD, but not very readable).

It looks like LISTSERV isn't translating the node name to upper case.
As Eric put some new case handling into 1.5j, that may be possible.
