Server stopping for no apparent reason

Running 1.8d on an IBM RS 6000 SP with AIX 4.2.
LSVROOT is in DCE/DFS space.  LSVSPOOL is on a local disk as are the archives.

If often just stops running.  No CORE file is written.  It just disappears.  Log file does not show anything unusual.

Any debugging ideas to help solve this?
