It all  depends on how  important the  statistics are to  you. Restarting
LISTSERV from time to time  helps prevent storage fragmentation, but that
resets the statistics.  Burning 20 seconds of CPU time  a day is probably
no big deal if done at night.  The only side effect is that it terminates
interactive database sessions if the user was searching BITEARN NODES.
