RFC1123 also stated that the target location "MUST accept" mail with source
routes.

While AOL MUST accept mail address as shown, CERF is not obligated to
implement a mail relay function and need not accept mail as addressed. Nor
would AOL be obligated if the address were
@aol.com:[log in to unmask]
The latter would be "trespass of chattel". The former "breach of contract".
Now if only something could be done about the a.mx....
