Dear colleagues,

I am writing to you on behalf of an association called the "shell club".
We are
an association of subscribers to the "shell account" of our local ISP (the
Govt. of India's Dept. of Telecom.). Shell club members are mostly small
businessmen or professionals and are enthusiastic Internet users. We are
based in Hyderabad, India. The shell club is absolutely free and open to
any person who is a "shell account" holder of the above ISP. We have been
running this shell club for nearly a year now, purely as a multiple address
mailing list which each member maintains and updates regularly. Obviously
this is a very inefficient method, especially as our membership grows (we
have 63 members now). Moreover, I as the Convenor of the shell club, find
it very difficult to control the usage of this mailing list. We are also
pestered often by unsolicited propaganda mail.

We wish to set up a mailing-list using one of the common mailing list
servers. However, our ISP does not support/host such software. Neither can
we afford to pay commercial sites for this purpose (we charge no fee from
our members). To maintain some control, our list will be a "closed"  (only
for shell account holders of Hyderabad, India), unmoderated (at least for
the first few months) list. I will be the owner/moderator for the list.

Prayer: We would be very grateful to anybody who can host our mailing list
(listserve or majordomo preferred) on a "no-fee" (free) basis. In return
for this gesture, we can offer to put in an acknowledgement/message which
will be sent with each welcome message. Or, we can work out some other form
of acknowledging your gesture.
